Remove Paralock Ransomware from PC – Security Tips

New and more sophisticated variants of ransomware and viruses are constantly being developed and one of them is Paralock ransomware. It is the new variant of vicious file-encrypting Parasite ransomware that was originally discovered by the professional malware analyst Tomas Meskauskas. Ransomware-type infections like Paralock are one of the most widespread and destructive threats to home and business users alike.

To help you protect your computer and vital data, we’ve come up with this comprehensive guide to walk you through the process of what to do in case the computer network or device is infected by the dangerous Paralock ransomware.

What is Paralock Ransomware?

This is a type of malware that is designed by cybercriminals to encrypt all major file types (.doc, .jpeg, .xls, .mp3, .pdf. etc.) found on the victim’s computer and demand ransom for the decryption keys/software.

During the encryption process, this ransomware-type program appends the “.paralock” extension to the affected filenames. For instance, a file originally titled “1.mp3” would appear as “1.mp3.parasite” following encryption. After this process is complete, it informs victims about the encryption by dropping the “info.hta” text file (ransom note) into every folder that contains encrypted files.

The ransom note contains detailed instructions on how to establish contact with the cybercriminals and pay a ransom fee in exchange for access to data.

Paralock Ransomware: Common Distribution Techniques

Below we have listed some of the most common hacking methods used by cybercriminals to inject malicious programs into the targeted systems.

  • Malspam or malicious spam

Manual threat detection and removal is an extremely daunting and time-consuming task, plus it also requires a great deal of technical know-how skills. Hence, users are advised to install a trusted and reliable antivirus/ anti-malware software to automatically remove Paralock ransomware and other types of harmful computer infections.

In addition to this, you are advised to follow the below-mentioned internet security and browsing tips to protect yourself against computer hackers and unwanted scams.
